27 weeks and a banana exploded!

Mum and Dad have been here for a week and have really helped me nest! They painted the nursery today. It now looks like a banana exploded in there! It's VERY yellow, but it's so bright and sunny. When the dark furniture is in there, it will look lovely. We moved all the spare room furniture from the nursery into the wintergarten. Mark seems quite pleased to have a bed and a PC in the same room...hmm, this may have been a flaw!

Mum and Dad also bought tons of baby things with them. I have loads of baby clothes and bits and pieces (although Mum didn't think Germany had cotton wool, so brought that too lol). My favourite item is a teddy bear grobag, it's so cute! These were my first real baby items, so it's great to finally have something to put in the empty chest of drawers! Some of the newborn things are so tiny, it's scary to think there will be a person inside them that relies on us for everything.

Baby development this week:
Our baby now weighs nearly 2 pounds/ 875 grams (approx) and measures 14.5 inches/ 36.6 centimetres from head to toe (approx). Her eyes open and close, she sleeps and wakes at regular intervals and she may suck a finger or thumb.

Some experts believe that babies begin to dream by the 28th week. What do they dream about? No one knows for certain but the brain is active this week as well. The characteristic grooves on the brain's surface start to appear and more brain tissue develops.

She might also be experiencing a case of the hiccups, which are common this week and throughout the pregnancy, although she is breathing in amniotic fluid rather than air.
